Bresnahan, Robert P.

Robert Paul Bresnahan Jr. represents Pennsylvania's 8th congressional district in the House of Representatives, having taken office on January 3, 2025. The 34-year-old Republican defeated incumbent Democrat Matt Cartwright in the 2024 election. Before entering Congress, Bresnahan built a career in business and civic engagement in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He became chief financial officer of his family's electrical contracting company, Kuharchik Construction, at age 19 and later served as CEO starting in 2013. He also founded RPB Ventures, a real estate development company focused on projects in Pittston, Pennsylvania, and in 2023 partnered Kuharchik Construction with Midwestern Electric.

In Congress, Bresnahan serves on three major committees: Agriculture, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Small Business. Within these committees, he focuses on commodity markets and digital assets, rural development, conservation and biotechnology, aviation, highways and transit, and economic development. His committee assignments reflect both his business background and the needs of his district.

During his first term, Bresnahan has sponsored 16 bills addressing infrastructure, veterans services, and economic policy. Notable legislation includes the Water Infrastructure Modernization Act of 2025, the National Flood Insurance Program Affordability Act, the CFTC Office of the Chief Economist Act of 2026, and the Helping Our Heroes Act. These bills demonstrate a focus on modernizing critical systems, supporting veterans, and strengthening rural and small business economies.

Prior to his election, Bresnahan served on numerous local and regional boards, including the SPCA of Luzerne County, Wyoming Rotary Club, and organizations focused on workforce development and industrial advancement in Northeastern Pennsylvania. His civic involvement reflects a commitment to community service alongside his business interests.
