Inspired to Serve Act of 2025
Summary
The Inspired to Serve Act would establish new federal funding streams and programs to promote civic engagement and national service. Title I would create a civic education fund and service-learning fund to support schools and organizations in teaching civics and organizing community service projects. The bill would also establish a national civics assessment and an excellence in civics award program. Title II would establish a Council on Military, National, and Public Service within the Executive Office of the President to coordinate recruitment and transition programs across military, national, and public service opportunities. The bill would create an internet-based service platform to help Americans explore and register for various service opportunities, and would require the Selective Service System to provide information about this platform to registrants. Additional provisions would modernize the Selective Service System and establish pilot programs to better coordinate recruitment across different service sectors. If enacted, the bill would increase federal investment in civics education and create new infrastructure to help connect Americans with service opportunities, though the bill has not yet been voted on by the full House.
